Hi... I'm Tuang Za Khai

Researcher and author

I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, focusing on plant-microbe interactions, and passionate about writing, which spans topics from science and Biblical reflection to motivational insights. As the author of A Hizolo Omlo, I explore themes of perseverance and purpose. Beyond academic work, I’m also involved in community and advocacy efforts, contributing to conversations on academic freedom and pro-democracy issues in Myanmar, and seeking ways to connect research with real-world impact.

My Research Interests

Type III Scretion System

My research focuses on understanding how plants respond to sequential environmental challenges, particularly when pathogen infection is followed by abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, or cold. I investigate the molecular networks and transcriptional memory that enable plants to adapt to these combined threats.

In parallel, I explore the mode of action of the bacterial Type III secretion system (T3SS) and its effectors, such as AopW1, which disrupt the plant actin cytoskeleton, modulate organelle interactions, and influence host adaptation. This dual focus bridges plant immunity and stress physiology, with implications for developing resilient crop varieties.

Home of Christ: The Holy Land — a journey through the land where Jesus walked.

After visiting many of the places where Christ lived, taught, and performed miracles, I’ve written this book to bring those sacred locations closer to your heart. Originally published in the Tedim language as Khrih Tuallenna Mun Siangthote, it will soon be released in English as Home of Christ: The Holy Land.

Home of Christ: The Holy Land is more than a travel reflection—it’s a spiritual invitation to see the Bible come alive through the lens of personal experience, history, and faith.

Whether you’re searching for a deeper connection to Scripture or simply curious about the places where heaven touched earth, this book is for you.

Stay tuned—the Holy Land awaits you.
